Untainted Innocence~

I was talking with some friends this past week regarding the fact that our world is doing any and everything possible to steal our children's innocence. There is so many things now accepted as normal in our society~ fowl language in music and from passing strangers, sexual content on most TV shows, the endless vulgarity internet allows, and the list goes on and on and on and on and on!

This short but oh so important journal for Bella's book was written out of my hope that my precious daughter will value her innocence as much as I do.

Untainted Innocence

Will you believe me when I say it’s precious and that it should be treasured? Will you understand how valueable it is?
My goodness, I pray so.

I know what you are feeling, I can't help but be concerned about my two grand-children in this crazy world we live in. We can only pray that we will be good teachers and examples for them and that the path they take will lead to good. Faith - Faith - Faith!!

Oh I learned this lessons all too well the other day when I was watching Y&R...you'll have to jump on over to my blog for the details...

I know as a society we have become totally "desensitized". Things accepted today would have been totally censored years ago.

This is a tough subject that we all struggle with! Kids are privy to too much at such a young age.....I try my hardest to protect their innocence

Great Post Krista!

Oh my word, do I identify with this post. When did it become acceptable to curse in front of young children? When did clothing for young girls start to look like hooker outfits? I. Am. Done.

I so get and agree with this post!

I know... it is so sad, we have turned so much off now ourselves for this reason.
Totally agree with you.

AMEN!AMEN!AMEN!.. I was just thinking this morning on the way home from shuttling the kids to school about this very same topic. If I hear "kids will be kids" one more time, my head might just pop off."

Prayer.HOPE. FAITH!

amen! We struggle with this as well. It's a scary society we are living in.

I just pray God's protection on my children... it's a scary world and although I do everything I can to protect them, only HE can truly keep them safe.

Oh how this is something that I worry about almost daily. I think of all the pressures of the world and how they are 'advertised' every living second of the day. Makes our job as parents that much harder. Can you imagine what it will be like when our kids are raising their own???

This gets harder EVERY day. As our kids grow and learn they become so much more aware of the world around them. We can't insulate them, only help them see right from wrong and pray they will learn to make good decisions and learn from their bad.

My husband and I were just talking about that the other night when we were leaving the mall. There was a group of young people swearing like crazy in loud voices, and I told Michael that if I were a parent that would really bother me. As a teacher, I have been appalled several times to learn of some really disgusting things that our upper grade students have said. I blame their parents.

I cannot remember hearing bad language out in public when I was a kid. Who would have thought the 70s and 80s were actually more innocent?

Oh, yes! I soooo agree!!

I agree with you whole heartedly on this one! We have cancelled our cable and I am a firm believe in bible study in the home and family worship to help our children in this fallen world.

I couldn't agree more! We live in a crazy world!

Paula October 3, 2008 at 12:44 AM

I agree, this world doesn't allow kids to be kids for long. T.V. shows are just full of people doing bad things.

Marla October 3, 2008 at 11:22 AM

I totally agree, everything around us just keeps pushing them to grown up faster and faster.

Tiffany October 3, 2008 at 1:57 PM

I totally agree.......
I had to take Ty to an appt at Children's Hospital today and overheard a father using some of the worst language I've heard in a long time. Thankfully Ty was too interested in Dora on the television to hear it.
It just seems that anything goes these days and it is so hard to protect these innocent children from the ways of this crazy world.

Colleen October 3, 2008 at 5:48 PM

I love this post and TOTALLY agree!!! My boys are still very innocent and when they try to convince us to have them watch some show or movie that everyone else gets to see (even kids younger than they are as they have to make sure and rub it in) we stand firm on what they can and can not watch.
Have a great week-end~:)
