Bella's world got a bit larger today... and I need some help!!!~

How her world got bigger~

Today Bella got her library card. It was so exciting to watch her sign her name. I stood there realizing that her world has just expanded~ to anywhere a book could take her.

Where I need your help~

Okay y'all I have a plan; this plan is to spend 1 night a week just Bella and me. I am thinking that leaving our home will be a part of this weekly 'date', to insure that it is indeed our time. On occasion we may stay home to do mani/pedi's  (she is a girly girl after all), but I would prefer to make it more memorable than just another night at home. Some thoughts I have are: taking her to a local pottery store to paint and glaze pottery. Of course we will get use out of her new library card. This year we began doing canvas art and I would like to continue this. Perhaps we will go to the park, beach, or to the movies. Or simply go for a bike ride or walk.

But what else? There are so many activies during the day but as a working mother I am finding it diffucult to find evening activities in my area.

Friday nights are our family night, which we call  Bella Notte. We gave it this name because the entire evening is Bella's choice; dinner, movie, game or activity. She even gets to choose where she is going to sleep. It is her special night and she looks forward to every week. Then Saturday is set aside for Daddy and Mommy. Now I want a special night for just her and I.

Do you have something special that you do with your kids? I could really use some help with ideas~ Please share!!!

i think it really doesn't matter what you do with her. it's the time you spend together that counts.

some ideas...
a girl's dinner out (maybe somewhere a little fancier?)

if there are special events like ice skating performances?

a craft store run can be fun too.

if it's a weekend, i know where i live they have these tea places, where you can have a girly afternoon tea with finger sandwiches.

What a great idea! Hmmm... I agree with Mah-Meeee that it's the time together that counts, but here are some ideas...

Do you have any local "picnic with the pops" (symphony)? She may not thoroughly enjoy the music yet, but they sometimes have children's games pre-concert and fireworks after.

Our city has a monthly parenting magazine that lists daily children's events. If yours has one, you might get some great ideas from the calendar.

Occasional professional mani/pedi.

I check ticketmaster.com constantly for new kid's shows coming to town.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else. I hope you post about some of your outings!

Thanks for visiting my blog. That is a really great idea. I think as long as you are having that special time together it will be great.
Shopping is always fun.:)

I think you are a great Mom and you are always creating memories with Isabella, and she is going to love looking back on her childhood when she gets older and she is going to smile from the inside out!

What fun one-on-one time you've planned with your daughter. Along with your great ideas, here's a few of our favorites- Children's museum, Roller skating, tea parties, & the zoo.
Looking forward to hearing about your mother daughter outings.

Wow!! I love the ideas you are getting and your post has inspired me to maybe start some one-on-one dates with my little ones (except that if I did it weekly, there'd be no days left in the week..heh!).

I know with my older girl, she loves shopping and going out to eat the two of us alone...maybe a movie. Whatever you choose, your Bella will be making amazing memories. You're a great Mom!

Blessings,

Ohilda

What a wonderful idea. Some ideas:

-buy plain pillowcases and decorate them
-go to a T-shirt shop and get matching t-shirts(maybe to wear to bed)
-buy a disposable camera and take Bella around town and let her take pictures
-scrapbook the pictures from disposable camera
-find a place that lets you make your own jewelery, an inexpensive place
-if you have a Krispy Kreme-watch the doughnut making process
-any Art, Children museums or a children's play at a youth theatre
-Any craft store has lots of ideas-like making a bird house, etc.

Love the library card-how grown up. You can never go wrong with spending time in a library. Have Fun and look forward to seeing the posts!

Well you know where my favorite spot is..the BEACH...Show her where her Daddy taught me where to surf. Pack her a little picnic like you did for us and it can be your night at the beach.....

Familyfun.com is a great place to find fun ideas, crafts, recipes, etc. I love this magazine.

You could bake/cook together one night. Let her decide what to make. I also loved making cookies with my mom, music playing.

It is so hard sometimes bc it can get expensive going out all the time. I love the bowling idea. I have wanted to try that with Jack.

Try this website-a Mom's meet up group listing

Do you have any cooking classes you could do together??? Or maybe cake decorating classes at Michaels??? Those may be fun. She will enjoy whatever you do together its being with you that she will cherish forever.

Hmmmm, things to do on girls night out...well, shopping of course, at the Disney store. Ice cream...cold stone..yes thats a good one. Sounds like lots of mommy and daughter fun. My older daughter and I sometimes go on mommie/daughter trips. We've been to a club med and went on a trip to Orlando. You will have a ball with your daughter whatever you choose to do.

wow you already have such wonderful ideas. Hmmm maybe one night have a night where you bake and cook together? She could go to the store with you and choose cookie cutters cake mix whatever and then you could come home and make a big mess in the kitchen together?
You mentioned to mani's/pedi's at home how about pampering her now and then and go to a salon for one?
Have a wonderful weekend!
