A beautiful life~

My grandmother passed away on Tuesday, she was just a few month shy of her 90th birthday. She lived a rich life, a giving life, a beautiful life. Her children and grandchildren were asked to write a tribute for her.

My heart is full… more so, it is overflowing. It is heavy with love, tender memories, and sorrow. I have struggled to find the word, or the story that could sum up a life, but there are simply too many … Godly, faithful, loving, nurturer, spirited, gentle, honest, devoted, beautiful ~ all single words each holding so much meaning, but separately not one of them can fully describe my Mamaw. They have to all be blended together, and only then would you be able to see a glimpse of who she was. Her life was rich, full, giving, loving and it was built on faith in our Heavenly Father, and a love for Papaw, it is a legacy that will live on long after death.

Mamaw and Papaw shared a special love, one that was honest, real, and gentle. Their love has paved a way for their children to follow, continue and pass on for generations to come. I knew early on that I wanted a love story like theirs. During a visit to our home in TN, Mamaw, Papaw, Shannon and I were sitting on the sofa, Mamaw’s hand was resting on Papaw’s leg, after all they were always touching each other in some sort of loving manner. We were talking, laughing, just being together. After a few moments Papaw got up to go to the kitchen, Mamaw leaned into Shannon and me and said "isn't he just adorable?"

Her death was peaceful and beautiful and although she left behind many that she loved there is no doubt that when she left us she ran into the arms of the one she loved most.

What beautiful sentiments you have shared. Your grandmother sounds like an amazing lady! I, too, lost my beloved grandmother at 90. I still miss her terribly and its been 5 years.

We live with the consolation of knowing that we will be together again, for eternity.
